Rest in Peace: Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin - The Queen of Soul

Rest in Peace: I am heartbroken to hear the news that we lost the beautiful Aretha Franklin recently.

I can tell you the impact she's had on my life as a singer is tremendous. I can remember in college when I was a voice major singing Aretha's songs in the practice room when I should have been singing opera. Driving my fellow musicians crazy but making my soul happy.

She paved the way for so many singers throughout the years. She was a true diva in every sense of the word!  Aretha's music will live on and inspire generations to come.

This is a devastating loss but I'm so glad she's at peace now. Her beautiful voice lives on to give us comfort. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones and fans.

Preachermann and The Revial rocked Soundview Park, Bronx on July 2nd!

Preachermann and the Revival in Soundview Park, Bronx

On Sunday, July 2, 2017, Preachermann and The Revival presented a soulful set in the Bronx. It was a day of celebration, good music, great friends and great fun.  The audience thoroughly enjoyed the music and the band did not disappoint! It was truly a beautiful day. Shalimar!!

A Special Thanks to all who supported the Shrine Show on October 29th!

A night to remember: A special thanks to all who attended Saturday night's show at the legendary Shrine in Harlem! It was such an awesome show and the amount of love we received during and after the show was heartwarming! It was so amazing to see the audience go from a lukewarm reception to chanting Shalimar and Preachermann's name by the end of the show. It was incredible!!

Thanks to the Preachermann & The Revival Band for always bringing the great music to the fans. It is so fulfilling to share the share with you and bring so much joy to people. PATR Band: Ed Holley, Amnel Holguin, Joe Paldino, Nick Paldiono, Karl Watson, Manny  Montanez and Tom Pope - you rock!

It was so wonderful to see our friends, Dave Dawson, Janet Rucker, Jay and our new friends: Jackson Shuri and Hilary Duffy and a host of others in attendance.

A special thanks to the Shrine for providing us with great sound for the evening. It was most appreciated!

It was an incredible night: the room was packed and spirits were high by the end of the night. It was truly a night to remember. Shalimar!

Preachermann and The Revival return to The Shrine on October 29th

On Saturday, October 29th, Preachermann and The Revival return to the legendary Shrine in Harlem for a soulful set of atomic soul!

Come join us for a night of sonic libations.

Let's us elevate you... Entertain you and feed your mind and spirit. The show will set your soul free.

Preachermann and the Revival will cleanse your soul! Get up in the water and get wet!!

What sets him apart from his peers is that his sultry brand of neo-soul is not only fresh, it is fearless; not merely sensuous, but conscious. And unlike so many modern soul artists whose work is weighed down with clichés, he has an uncanny knack for clever wordplay that bridges the serious side of life with the levity that makes it livable. The title track to his 2006 LP, Negroes Stay Crunchy in Milk, is but one shining example of Preacher’s capacity to skillfully and seamlessly blend prophetic lore with ironic metaphor to make timeless music that crosses broad boundaries without selling itself out.

You won't want to miss this event.

Come ready to dance, sing and release!!

A special thanks to all who attended the Shrine show on July 2nd!

Before the Preachermann and The Revival Show: Preachermann - Benita - Amnel

A special thanks to all who attended and supported the Preachermann and The Revival Show at The Shrine on July 2nd!  It was truly a night to remember. It was the place to be last Saturday night! The audience was packed and so energetic - it was contagious!

It was so wonderful to see our friends who attended, Tom Watson and Shawn and other familiar faces. We even met new friends along the way, Ms. Darlene Dues of Orange is the New Black, Leslie Robinson of rechargethegame.com, Maki Yamamoto (textile designer), Burcu Ozturk and her friends!

Even though we didn't have the entire band with us, the music was as powerful as ever. It is a pleasure working with so many extraordinary musicians who love what they do. I was honored to share the stage with the charismatic, Ed "Preachermann" Holley, the lovely Amnel Holguin on backgrounds (the newest member), Joe Paldino (guitar),  Nick Paldino (bass), Manny Montanez, (percussion) and Tom Pope (drums). Together, we created beautiful music that enriched the audience.  We could feel the love from the stage.

The Shrine staff  was hospitable as always to us. A special thanks to our sound man for helping us sound the best. It's a pleasure playing there. It is our home!

Thanks to all our fans and the well wishers who sent your energy to us last night.  We appreciate all of you for your love and support.

Music is so incredible! It changes lives and makes the world a better place! I am so proud and honored to be a music maker. Thanks so much to everyone for taking this journey with us!

Much Love to you all,

Benita Charles Music
