About:
This is the official, national page for the Women's March on Washington. The march will take place on January 21st in Washington D.C. starting at 10AM.
General Information
The Women's March on Washington will take place on January 21 in Washington D.C. starting at 10AM
STORY:
The Women’s March on Washington will occur on Saturday, January 21, 2017, beginning at 10:00 am.

The march will occur in Washington, DC near the Capitol. Specific location and details are soon forthcoming. Professional organizers are working with all relevant agencies and there should not be any issues with securing necessary permits.

The Women’s March on Washington is a grassroots effort comprised of dozens of independent coordinators at the state level. The effort is helmed by four national co-chairs and a national coordinating committee who are working around the clock to pull it all together.

A program featuring nationally recognized artists, entertainers, advocates, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and others will be announced in the coming weeks.
MISSION:
On January 21, 2017 we will unite in Washington, DC for the Women’s March on Washington. We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families, recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.

The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us: immigrants of all statuses, Muslims and those of diverse religious faiths, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, and survivors of sexual assault. Our communities are hurting and scared. We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear.

In the spirit of democracy and in honor of the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore. The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world, that women’s rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

We support the advocacy and resistance movements that reflect our multiple and intersecting identities. We call on all defenders of human rights to join us. This march is the first step towards unifying our communities, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up. We will not rest until women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all. HEAR OUR VOICE.

Activate Conference 2016 - September 19 & 20!

Activate Your Life: The Activate Conference is coming up on Monday, September 19th and Tuesday, September 20th in Washington, DC.

I had the pleasure of attending this event last year in Atlanta and it was epic! There was a wealth of information, wonderful connections, and great good vibes.

Since joining the Activate Movement, lead by the chief Activator, Lucinda Cross, I noticed a huge improve in my life and perspective/outlook! It's so empowering to be around dynamic, movers/shakers, phenomenal woman who are striving for excellence and to help others. It is often said that you should surround yourself with great people and people who are doing better than you. I've found this to be very true. Every Activate event was a learning experience and a wealth of knowledge that is invaluable. They have definitely kept me focused.

Oprah's loving tribute to Dr. Maya Angelou

Words by Oprah Winfrey:

"I've been blessed to have Maya Angelou as my mentor, mother/sister, and friend since my 20’s. She was there for me always, guiding me through some of the most important years of my life. The world knows her as a poet but at the heart of her, she was a teacher. ‘When you learn, teach. When you get, give’ is one of my best lessons from her.

She won three Grammys, spoke six languages and was the second poet in history to recite a poem at a presidential inauguration. But what stands out to me most about Maya Angelou is not what she has done or written or spoken, it’s how she lived her life. She moved through the world with unshakeable calm, confidence and a fierce grace. I loved her and I know she loved me. I will profoundly miss her. She will always be the rainbow in my clouds." -- Oprah Winfrey

Remembering Dr. Maya Angelou

I'm so sorry to hear of the recent passing of Dr. Maya Angelou.

We are so blessed to have witnessed her share her gift of words to the world. She was truly an example of what we are all striving for: to use your gifts to heal the world. She was a beautiful wordsmith and a phenomenal woman. She lived her purpose.

Her words have touched and inspired millions through the years. Her pen is now silenced and still but her words will live on for eternity and will reach future generations. Her life is a testament of how one person can truly change the world.

I pray for her family and friends for comfort. May she R.I.P.
