NY-Vocalist, Benita Charles shares singing tips for beginner singers.
Tip #5 - Build your repertoire. Create set lists from different genres. (This will help you become a performer in-demand.)
- Practice at least 2 - 3 songs per week.
- Establish set lists from different genres. This will help you build your repertoire and get more gigs. (Michael Jackson learned over 100 songs as a child! This is one of the things that made him great - not too mention his raw talent.)
- Make your rehearsal fun. Practice sets from different eras (eg. Disco, Motown, 80s hits, etc.)
- Record your rehearsals. This will help you learn what works and what doesn't work.
- Use an app like "Setlists" to help you manage your set lists and learn your lyrics.
I hope this helpful! Your feedback is encouraged.
