AS I CLOSE THE DOOR

Dear Lord, as I close the door on the old year, I ponder the things I've done... the things I've said and the joys I've had I wonder, have I lost or won?

I've thought of new friends I have made, and the old ones, staunch and true... the paths of the old year made easier, Lord, because I have walked them with You

I think of all the many times, when my burdens were so heavy to bear, and how my faith slipped away from me but somehow You were always there

Now, as I open the door to this New Year, and carefully peep inside, I wonder what it holds for me... but I'll throw the door open wide.

Whatever it brings to me and mine, I'll meet it with a heart so true... I know that, Lord, whatever it may be, You'll be there to carry me through!

--Merrei Thompson

Happy Holidays!!!

Benita Charles & Friends Holiday Show/Toy Drive 2012

Dear Friends:

Happy Holidays!  The holiday season is upon us and I hope you have a delightful and joyous season!

In celebration of the holiday, I am presenting my fourth annual Toys for Tots benefit concert next Sunday, December 16th at Bar Thalia - Symphony Space at 8:00 pm.

I hope you can join me at my show, the Benita Charles & Friends Holiday Show/Toy Drive 2012 for a special holiday celebration. Please bring and unwrapped toy for a deserving boy and girl.

This year it was especially important for me to do this show because there were so many children affected by Hurricane Sandy that will not have a good Christmas.  The Marine Corps are dedicated to help those victims through their Toys for Tots charity. Let us help the children have a wonderful Christmas and make this the best toy drive ever!! Your gift will make a huge difference in a child that has lost everything. Thanks so much for your kindness!

The Toys for Tots program is dedicated to helping less fortunate children throughout the New York area experience the joy of the holiday season. Benita Charles & Friends are honored and proud to partner with the U.S. Marine Corps in this endeavor to serve and improve our local community. For more information, visit: http://brooklyn-ny.toysfortots.org/

At the concert, I will be singing some holiday favorites, some of my favorite cover songs and original music. Also on the show, Christi Gehrisch will sing some of her favorites songs to add to the festive occasion.

I hope you can join me and my friends for a night of great music, yummy food, good friends all for a great cause!

Take care and may you all have a wonderful holiday!

Much love,

Benita Charles Music
