Make Music New York was amazing this year!

Benita Charles in Harlem, NYC

This year's Make Music New York concerts on June 21st were simply amazing!

I had a wonderful time at McKinley's Children's Garden in Jamaica Queens. Although the students were not there this year because they were practicing for their graduation, the audience that attended was very engaged and interested in my music. I sang to tracks of my original music and I ended with the cover, we are family. It was so much fun!

At Sister's Cuisine in Harlem, NYC later in the evening, the show was so interesting because we had people who attended the show and people who were passing through who all enjoyed and engaged with us. It was a great show with the Benita Charles Trio (Benita Charles, vocals, Peter Archer, guitar and Cheo, percussion).

Music has the power to heal, unite and touch lives. I am so grateful to be a music maker!

Preachermann and The Revival Band brings the heat to Riis Park Beach Bazaar on June 25th!

On Sunday, June 25, 2017, The Preachermann and The Revival Band brings the heat to Riis Park Beach Bazaar!

Come join us for a night of sonic libations.

Let's us elevate you... Entertain you and feed your mind and spirit. The show will set your soul free.

Preachermann and the Revival will cleanse your soul! Get up in the water and get wet!!

What sets him apart from his peers is that his sultry brand of neo-soul is not only fresh, it is fearless; not merely sensuous, but conscious. And unlike so many modern soul artists whose work is weighed down with clichés, he has an uncanny knack for clever wordplay that bridges the serious side of life with the levity that makes it livable. The title track to his 2006 LP, Negroes Stay Crunchy in Milk, is but one shining example of Preacher’s capacity to skillfully and seamlessly blend prophetic lore with ironic metaphor to make timeless music that crosses broad boundaries without selling itself out.

You won't want to miss this event.

Come ready to dance, sing and release!!

Image is Everything!

Benita Charles in New York City

Image is Everything: Putting it all together

"Image is a reflection of being yourself." -- R3hab

Today, your Image is the number one commodity that you have to your success.  It is the first thing people will see when they discover you - before they hear your music. That's why it's imperative that your image is impeccable in how you look, what you say and what you do!

Image Section:

1) Your Appearance (Your Brand)
  • Know who you are & celebrate what make you unique and use it to your advantage
  • Put your best foot forward in how you look, dress and carry yourself
  • You must look good at all times
  • Find your own personal style in your brand.
  • Be consistent in all you do with your image (on social media, print and marketing materials
 2) Your Communication (Your Message)
  •  As an artist, what do you stand for? What message is your music conveying? You must be clear with your answers to these questions
  • Are you properly communicating your message consistently? Do your fans "get you?"
  • It is important to be clear and consistent with your message.
 3) Your Behavior (Your Reputation)
  •  Are you an artist of integrity?
  • Can people count on you to follow through with your commitments? Do you show up on time?
  • What you do is more important than what you say
 Questions to ask yourself:
  1.  What kind of image to you want to convey to the world?
  2. How do you want to be remembered?
  3. What do you want your image to consist of (eg. classy, rebel, activist, diva, etc.)
  4.  Does this image reflect who you are?
