AS I CLOSE THE DOOR

Dear Lord, as I close the door on the old year, I ponder the things I've done... the things I've said and the joys I've had I wonder, have I lost or won?

I've thought of new friends I have made, and the old ones, staunch and true... the paths of the old year made easier, Lord, because I have walked them with You

I think of all the many times, when my burdens were so heavy to bear, and how my faith slipped away from me but somehow You were always there

Now, as I open the door to this New Year, and carefully peep inside, I wonder what it holds for me... but I'll throw the door open wide.

Whatever it brings to me and mine, I'll meet it with a heart so true... I know that, Lord, whatever it may be, You'll be there to carry me through!

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Christmas time is a joyous time. It's my favorite time of the year! May you have a day filled with love, joy and happiness to last you throughout the year.

Today, many special children are enjoying their holiday thanks to our efforts through the Toys for Tots organization. Thank you so much to all who attended and donated toys to my fifth annual toy drive at Bar Thalia at Symphony Space on Friday, December 13th. The marines were present at the show and they picked up a large box from the show. It was a huge success thanks to you! It was well worth the effort knowing the children will enjoy the magic of Christmas today.

I am so grateful for your support of my musical endeavors through the years. I really appreciate your interests, words of encouragement, support (by purchasing my music and attending my shows) and your well wishes. To all my new friends who recently signed my mailing list, it was nice to meet you and I look forward to seeing you at my shows in the future.

It was such an incredible event at the Benita Charles and Friends Holiday Show/Toy Drive 2013 at Bar Thalia on Friday, December 13th! Thanks to all who attended the show, donated and supported my toy drive!
It was great to see Mark Anthony, Lorrie Whitfield, Darren Wallace, Richard Ferber and new friends who saw my post on the NYC.gov website, Charles and Kim!

A special thanks to my lovely Aunt Sala and mother-in-law, Mrs. Holley and Danny & Ann Drucker of Collectors Toy Den (an online toy store) for their contributions to my toy drive. I really appreciate everyone's support.

A special thank you to the US Marines from Toys For Tots NYC for attending the show and picking up the toys! Gunnery Sergeant Delucia, Sergeant Gateman and Sergeant Rodriguez were in attendance. They were so great to work with and gracious. I'm so happy we had a huge box for them to pick up. Also, a special thank you to Toys For Tots NYC for presenting me with the Commander's Award for my concerts I've produced to benefit the Toys for Tots organization! I am so honored to have received it.

Thanks to Elisabeth and Aninga of Bar Thalia for their hospitality and accommadating our show at the space.

And, I'd like to especially thank the Benita Charles and Friends Band: Christi Gehrisch, Peter Archer and Eusebio Manuel Montanez. I appreciate your time, effort and talents you've given me this year. I'm looking forward to making more music together in 2014!

For the children: Benita Charles & Friends Holiday Show/Toy Drive - 12/13/13!

On Friday, December 13, 2013, The Benita Charles & Friends Band performs holiday favorites, R&;B, jazz and original music to spread holiday cheer at Bar Thalia at Symphony Space on the upper west side of Manhattan! Showtime: 9:00 pm (no cover but unwrapped toy for a boy or girl requested).

**Please bring an unwrapped toy for a boy or girl to our 5th annual toy drive for the Toys For Tots program. A representative from the U.S. Marine Corps will be present to collect the toys. Let's make this the best toy drive ever!!!

The Toys for Tots program is dedicated to helping less fortunate children throughout the New York area experience the joy of the holiday season. Benita Charles & Friends are honored and proud to partner with the U.S. Marine Corps in this endeavor to serve and improve our local community.
